Revelation: Real Time Spiritual Insight

13 And He said to them, “Do you not understand this parable? How will you understand all the parables?  Mark 4:13

The disciple’s didn’t understand Jesus’ parables.  They desperately needed insight and revelation as to what certain key words meant in the simple stories Jesus used.  They needed heaven’s perspective.  Isn’t this what most of us need?

Revelation is real-time spiritual insight and knowledge about God, the Bible, yourself, others in the past, present, and future.  In short, revelation is God speaking relevent information we need.  If we are obedient to God’s revelation, it changes everything about us.

We search for principles, commandments, and statues in the Scriptures in order to obey them.  We should do this.  But these only tell us where God has been and what He has done in the past.  Revelation tells us where God is going and where we will personally fit into His will.  You need revelation today.  This is why Jesus said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.”

Ask yourself, “Am I receiving relevent, fresh revelation from heaven each day?”  If the answer is “no” – then revelation awaits you.

Walk with Revelation

9 Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world. 10 But if anyone walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him.”  John 11:9-10

“Walk in the light” is spoken numerous times by Jesus. Jesus employs it here to settle His disciples’ nerves.  They are concerned about traveling back into Judea because of the death threats they have already received from Jewish leadership there.  Would the Lord’s words “walk in the light” settle your nerves if you were following Jesus into hostile territory?

“Walking in the light” is another way of saying, “Operate within the Father’s known will and work.  It also means you should operate with the revelatory words and knowledge He has already given you.”  Jesus assures His disciples they will not stumble as long as it is day and that daylight is within them.  What have you done with the revelational knowledge the Lord has already given you?  Light is God’s word for revelation and Jesus is the “light of the world.”  He is your first revelation and the source of many others thereafter.  The Lord’s will should never be like “night-time“.  We should never feel like we are groping around in the dark trying to find the blessings of God.  If  you do not have enough revelational knowledge, then by all means seek the Lord so you have all the revelational light you need.   God is not trying to keep revelational knowledge from you.  He is desperately trying to get His word into you.   Spend some time today getting God’s light into your life.

Have You Heard the Father’s Phone?

Tags

You should be familiar with heaven’s phone by now.  Four different times in John 10 Jesus said, “My sheep know my ‘phone’“.  Phone is the Greek word for “sound” or “voice“.  Have you become familiar with heaven’s sound?  I believe the Lord has a distinct sound and voice.  Genesis 3:11 relates that Adam and Eve knew this to be true.  ” They heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day.”

The impressions and words I have received from the Lord all have a very familiar sound.  Jesus said certain sheep do not follow Him because they “do not hear His phone.”  I believe the Lord attempts to speak to all, but many have yet to turn into His frequency.  How about you?  Are you listening for His “still small voice“?

The Kingdom of God Is Within You

How can God be so big and vast as spoken of in the Bible, and yet go undetected?

How can one person claim to have a very personal and intimate relationship with God, while another denies His very existence?

The people of Jesus’ day struggled with these same issues.  They insisted Jesus show them a “sign” from heaven.  They wanted undeniable proof.  Jesus in returned called them an “evil, unbelieving generation.”

So where do we go to prove God exists?  If the God of Creation has gone undetected for thousands of years on a plant with billions of people, where should we look to discover Him?  There is a place to look for Him, according to His Son.  “The Kingdom of God is not coming with signs to be observed; nor will they say, ‘Look, here it is’ or, ‘There it is!’ For behold, the Kingdom of God is within you.”  (Luke 17:20-21)

For those looking for a “Rock Star” God, understand God will not allow you to observe Him in this fashion.  No, God enters quietly into your heart or inner man.  This is why Jesus compared the coming of the Kingdom into our lives like “mustard seed.”  But with a little care, it grows rapidly.  Once the Kingdom of God is activated, it expands and changes our entire being.  Remember, God maybe discreet in public but that doesn’t mean He goes undetected within you.  Go seek after Him today.

Be Blind, Stay Blind

39 And Jesus said, “For judgment I came into this world, so that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may become blind.”

41Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no sin; but since you say, ‘We see,’ your sin remains.  John 9:39 & 41 (NASB)

I have a confession.  I have more Bible knowledge than I will ever use.  In fact it is a deterrent for me hearing God.  Why?  Because I already think I see, hear, and know what God thinks.  Maybe you battle with becoming too familiar with the things of God?

This is exactly what Jesus is eluding to here.  The key to really hearing God’s voice and seeing His will is found in admitting you are “blind and deaf.”

Practice this right now.  Take five or ten minuets and sincerely tell the Lord how blind and deaf you are without Him.  You will notice a change in your approach to the Lord, and so will He!  Make it your goal to “be blind and stay blind.”  I know it sounds crazy but this is Jesus’ invitation.  The Lord knows it is only when we become blind that we truly see; and it is only in deafness do we truly hear.  You will find in your new-found blindness a fresh revelation from the Father.  He is waiting to give you “eyes that see and perceive and ears that hear and understand.”  Why?  Now you are admitting that “you can do nothing apart from Him.”

Everything You Need To Know

1 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbs up some other way, he is a thief and a robber. 2 But he who enters by the door is a shepherd of the sheep. 3 To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 When he puts forth all his own, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. 5 A stranger they simply will not follow, but will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers.” 6 Thisfigure of speech Jesus spoke to them, but they did not understand what those things were which He had been saying to them.

7 So Jesus said to them again, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.   John 10:1-7

As Jesus has noted before, He cannot plainly speak of heavenly truths, so He employs earthly analogies.  In this case the disciples miss the point of His teaching.  Be good listeners today!  (eisakouo means those who listen and obey)  If you understand this figure of speech all the other “I am” references will become clearer.

Jesus says, “I am the door of the sheep” (7)  Jesus Himself is always our very first revelation.  The Father draws us to Him and further reveals Him to us.  Every spiritual truth you learn from this point forward is through God’s Son, Jesus Christ.

Jesus says, “I am the Good Shepherd.” (11)  Verses 3-4 reminds us that we all must know, recognize and follow the voice of the Good Shepherd, Jesus.  Why?  Jesus leads us places.  Our walk with Him is not static.  Finding pasture (9) is imperative for the believer.  Pastures are food sources, revelation.  All growing believers must feed on the food the Lord provides.  He leads us out to find good pastures to feed upon.

Please listen to what I am saying.  When I came to know Christ, I immediately wanted to feed myself.  I read the Bible and tried to pick-up as much knowledge as I could.  I craved spiritual nourishment.  As I grew though, I neglected spending time with the Lord.  The times I went without fresh revelations were the lowest points in my spiritual walk.  I quickly  learned you cannot operate with power on stale bread.

The reason the Lord uses these “I am” statements and more specifically calls Himself “The Door” and “The Good Shepherd” is so that you will always know He is in the present tense with you.  He is not the God of yesteryear.  I believe we do people a misservice always speaking about what the Lord did a hundred years ago.  Believers and nonbelievers alike need to know that the Lord is active and speaking in our lives today.  He is leading His sheep just as much today as He did back in the New Testament.  In fact I believe He is speaking more.  We must believe this.  Why?  If we do not we will miss hearing Him today.  Plan to spend time with the Lord today.  Make time for His presence.

Washing Off The ‘Sent’

“And as He passed by, He saw a man blind from birth.  And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, the man or his parents, that he should be born blind?”   Jesus answered, “It was neither that this man sinned, nor his parents, but it was in order that the works of God might be displayed in him.  We must work the works of Him who sent Me, as long as it is day; night is coming when no man can work.  While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

When He said this, He spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and applied the clay to his eyes, and said to him, “Go wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated, Sent).  And so he went away and washed, and came back seeing.                                                                                                                                                                         John 9:1-7

Why is anyone born the way they are?  No one is born with absolute perfection.  Yes, some family situations and societies are better to live in than others, but even the best have some deficits.  These disciples concluded that “sin” was the culprit.  But Jesus corrected them and said this man was born this way “in order that the works of God might be displayed.”

Could it be we all have some deficit(s) that lie unhealed and untouched?  Could these conditions go on for years while we personally cope with them the best we can.  Then the day comes when the Savior shows up unannounced with simply a word, touch, and a command of obedience.  We simply do what He says and in that moment our physical, emotional, psychological, or social issues are totally cured.  The Savior vanishes and we are left wondering “why now” and “where is He?”

The only answer is “that the glory of God might be revealed in us.”

I have never met anyone who didn’t have some deficit, scar, trauma, issue, or problem.  These issues in some way disqualified them for “premiere” service in God’s Kingdom.  Isn’t this what most really believe.  God has a cast of premiere servants or subjects that are “without spot or wrinkle“?  Most of us do not fit the bill.  We are most akin to the blind man in John 9, who needs healing.

I submit to you… You are born the way you are “that the glory of God might be revealed in you.”  There is glory in your deficits, shortcomings, scars, and traumas.  I believe somewhere inside your most hideous handicaps the Father Himself is waiting to reveal:

  1.  Himself;
  2. your true identity;
  3. your actual inheritance; and
  4. power and authority.

The pool here is called Siloam, translated Sent.  Most people are stuck here at a place called Sent.  They say things like, “God sent this to me.  God sent this disease on me.  God sent this trauma, sickness, or handicap.  I am made to suffer because God sent this on me.”  In the physical some conditions look worse to our eyes more than others.  Sometimes we all are made to feel our personal crosses are too much to bear.  But the point is that God never intended for any of us to stay at the place called Sent. His glory will never be revealed until we wash the “sent” off or until we grow past the place where we blame the Father for everything that has gone wrong in our lives.

There is glory in you waiting to be revealed by a revelatory word from the Lord.  Lay aside your anger, pain, excuses, and seek the Lord for His word.  Allow His word to wash over you.  He is waiting to reveal Himself to you today!
