As you already know I am from the Southern USA. This past week I intercepted a memo from Santa Claus to folks living in these parts. It is imperative you read this memo… it will help you to understand what is going to be happening to many people around the lower United States.

++++++++++++++++

To: All Southern USA Residents

From: Santa

RE: Replacement Santa

“I regret to inform you that effective immediately, due the growing population, I will no longer be able to serve the Southern United States on Christmas Eve. However, I have provided a replacement for you, my third cousin, Bubba Claus. His side of the family is from the South pole. There are a few differences between us that you need to know:

1. Instead of milk and cookies, Bubba Claus prefers that you leave a RC Cola and pork rinds…. If possible include a few Moon Pies as well.

2. Bubba Claus’ sleigh is pulled by flying coon dogs instead of reindeer. (Santa made the mistake of loaning him a reindeer once, and his head now overlooks Bubba ‘s fireplace.)

3. Instead of hearing “On Comet, on Cupid, on Donner and Blitzen…” you’ll hear, “On Earnhardt, on Wallace, on Gordon and Jarrett.”

4. The classic Christmas movies such as “Miracle on 34th Street” and “It’s a Wonderful Life” should be replaced with “Boss Hogg Saves Christmas” and “Smokey and the Bandit IV.”

5. Bubba Claus doesn’t wear a belt….So make sure the wife and the kids turn the other way when he bends over to put presents under the tree.

Thanks for your continued support….

Santa

Be Blessed this Christmas,

Pastor

Christmas Present

a young nun, Abraham, bedpan, children of the burning heart, Christmas future, Christmas past, Christmas present, David, Elijah, fresh word from heaven, I am, I wish I had your faith, melancholy, my generation, Noah, Tozer Quote, what God is doing right now

A W Tozer - Quote

A lot of folks get a little melancholy around Christmas time. Thinking about Christmas’ past makes them get a little whimsical. Nothing wrong with this as long as you don’t stay in that place.

Christmas always reminds me that a new year is coming. It is a fresh opportunity to start new… to get a fresh word from heaven… to get new revelation and relevant marching orders for the new year. I don’t want to be stuck in Christmas past. I want to live in Christmas present with hope in Christmas future.

Don’t get me wrong… I believe we should learn from the past. But when you hear believers constantly chirping about the past…”what God did” or “how the Lord used to move” …. It is easy to get stuck worshiping, talking, and focusing upon what God did yesteryear. We must remind ourselves that our God is the great “I Am“!

  • I don’t want to only read about Noah, I want to be Noah in my generation.
  • I don’t want to only study about Abraham, I want to be a “Father of Faith” to my generation.
  • I don’t want to simply admire Kind David, I want to be a “Warrior of Worship” to my generation.
  • I don’t want to just marvel the prophet Elijah, I want to walk in that same power in my generation.

When we get stuck in the past, we only examine “What God did.” We lose focus on “what God is doing right now.” I love hearing stories about evangelists, pastors, missionaries, and saints of old. They inspire me. But, what about today…isn’t God doing anything fresh and relevant now?

Yes! He is for those willing to get their head and spirit out of Christmas past. The hardcore faith of Noah, Abraham, and others is still available to each and every believer willing to seek the Lord for a fresh revelation. Stop saying, “I wish I had so-and-so’s faith.” Allow the Lord to speak into your “now”. The Lord will speak and move if you are looking for Him in your present.

All this reminds me of the young nun who was on a much desired mission assignment to the Apache Indians. She was so excited that she drove past the last gas station without noticing she needed gas. She ran out of gas just a mile down the road and had to walk back to the station. The attendant told her he would like to help her, but he had no container to hold the gasoline.

Sympathetic to her plight, he agreed to search through an old shed in the back for something that might suffice. The only container which would hold fuel was an old bedpan. Not to be detained any longer, the grateful nun told him the bedpan would work just fine. She carried the gasoline back to her car, taking care not to drop an ounce. When she got to her car, she carefully poured the contents of the bedpan into the tank.

A truck driver pulled alongside and noticed the care given as the nun was emptying the container into the tank. He rolled down his window and yelled to her, “I wish I had your faith, Sister!”

See, you don’t need someone else’s faith. I believe the Lord has a fresh word for you today. This word will change your life and those around you. Maybe you will be the one we all will be telling stories about next Christmas. Lets all strive to be “children of the burning heart.”

Blessings,

Pastor

Who Started Christmas???

already crucified Him, christmas shopping, days before christmas, elevator, mother and children, unto us a child is born

I thought this little story might put Christmas back into perspective for us.

A young woman was out shopping with her two children a few days before Christmas. After many hours of looking at row after row of toys and everything else imaginable, and after hours of hearing both her children asking for everything they saw on those many shelves, she finally made it to the elevator with her two kids.

She felt what so many of us feel during the holiday season time of the year. It is the overwhelming pressure to go to every party, every housewarming, taste all the holiday food and treats, discover that perfect gift for every single person on the shopping list, make sure to not forget anyone on our card list, and the pressure of making sure we respond to everyone who sent a Christmas card.

Finally the elevator doors opened and there was already a crowd in the car. She pushed her way into the car and dragged her two kids with her, along with their bags of stuff. When the doors closed she couldn’t take it anymore and stated, “Whoever started this whole Christmas thing should be found, strung up and shot!”

From the back of the car everyone heard a quiet calm voice respond, “Don’t worry. We already crucified him.”

For the rest of the trip down, the elevator was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop.

Don’t forget this year to keep the One who started this whole Christmas thing in your every thought, deed, purchase, and word. If we all do it, just think how different this whole world will be.

“For unto us a CHILD was born. Unto us a SON was GIVEN!”

Blessings,

Pastor

King Wenceslas: Remembered For Good Deeds

1853, Christmas carol, grandmother, John Mason Neale, kindness to the poor, King murdered, Matthew 25:40, overthrow, persecution of Christianity

“‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.‘” Matthew 25:40

“Good King Wenceslas,” sung about in the famous Christmas carol, was actually a duke. Born around the year 907 in what is now the Czech Republic, Wenceslas was raised by his grandmother, Ludmila, and attended a Christian school. When he was about 13 years old, his father, Ratislav, died and Wenceslas succeeded him as duke. Because he was too young to rule, his mother, Drahomira, became regent.

Vehemently opposed to Christianity, she used her new power to persecute followers of the religion. Afraid they would scheme to overthrow her, she refused to let Wenceslas see Ludmila. Not long after Ratislav’s death, Ludmila was murdered at Tetin Castle — strangled, it is said, at Drahomira’s command.   After her death, Ludmila was revered as a saint.

At the age of 18 Wenceslas overthrew his mother’s regency, just as she had feared, and began to rule for himself.  A stern but fair monarch, he stopped the persecution of priests and tamed the rebellious nobility.  He was known for his kindness to the poor, as depicted in later verses of the carol. He was especially charitable to young children, orphans and slaves and believed that his Christian faith needed to be put into action in practical ways.

The duke’s most deadly enemy proved to be his own brother, Boleslav. In 935, he, along with a group of nobles, murdered Wenceslas in the church doorway on his way to mass.  He was just 28 years old but his love for others is still commemorated more than 1,000 years later when a clergyman named John Mason Neale wrote “Good King Wenceslas” in 1853.

Our good deeds may not be celebrated in song; however, rest assured that our Lord knows all we do in His Name.

“Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the Name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.” Colossians 3:17

Share the Blessings this Christmas Season,

Pastor
