Why Jesus Isn’t Cool

cool, darkness, light, satan, walk in the light

People who follow Buddha, they are cool.  People who follow the Dali Lama, they are way cool.  Pantheism is cool these days.  There are plenty of trees to hug.  As dangerous as Islam can be, it is still cool to follow Mohammed.  But openly confess you are a follower of Jesus and you will go from being cool to being a fool.  This is not just a western phenomenon.  More Christians have been martyred in the past century than all the previous centuries combined.

My point is this – It has never been cool to be a Jesus freak and it never will.  According to Jesus there are two main reasons for this.

“Now judgment is upon this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out.”  John 12:31

His time being short, Satan is out to persecute the professing believer.  The demonic world will never allow following Christ to become in vogue or cool.

“For a little while longer the Light is among you. Walk while you have the Light, so that darkness will not overtake you; he who walks in the darkness does not know where he goes. 36 While you have the Light, believe in the Light, so that you may become sons of Light.”  John 12:35-36

The other reason following Jesus will never be cool is “light.”  The light of Christ is revelation, truth, and knowledge.  Men love darkness and would rather walk in total darkness than the true light because they love to do evil.  This is why Jesus doesn’t make sense to many people.  Since they love darkness, real spiritual truth seems absurd.

I like looking at things under a black light.  I think it is cool.  But I do not want to live with my only light source being a black light.  I want a real light to see life accurately.  Satan would have us believe his black lights are all we need.

This is why Jesus said time and time again, “Walk in My light.  Walk in My truth.  Because night is coming when no man can see.”  Which light are you trying to use?  If the world is cool with you and you are cool with it, you have a light problem and are living in darkness.  Take this revelation today and begin to walk in the light.

Walk with Revelation

God's will, revelational knowledge, walk in the light

9 Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world. 10 But if anyone walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him.”  John 11:9-10

“Walk in the light” is spoken numerous times by Jesus. Jesus employs it here to settle His disciples’ nerves.  They are concerned about traveling back into Judea because of the death threats they have already received from Jewish leadership there.  Would the Lord’s words “walk in the light” settle your nerves if you were following Jesus into hostile territory?

“Walking in the light” is another way of saying, “Operate within the Father’s known will and work.  It also means you should operate with the revelatory words and knowledge He has already given you.”  Jesus assures His disciples they will not stumble as long as it is day and that daylight is within them.  What have you done with the revelational knowledge the Lord has already given you?  Light is God’s word for revelation and Jesus is the “light of the world.”  He is your first revelation and the source of many others thereafter.  The Lord’s will should never be like “night-time“.  We should never feel like we are groping around in the dark trying to find the blessings of God.  If  you do not have enough revelational knowledge, then by all means seek the Lord so you have all the revelational light you need.   God is not trying to keep revelational knowledge from you.  He is desperately trying to get His word into you.   Spend some time today getting God’s light into your life.
