In the Process

“Blessed are those who hear the Word of God and obey it.” Luke 11:28

According to Jesus a blessed life is one which hears from heaven and obeys. Revelation always demands a response — you can’t be neutral, unaffected or indifferent. When Jesus spoke or performed a miracle, the people around responded with general amazement .. “How could this Man do this?” Some even attributed His power to Satan. Others were more guarded and demanded another sign from Him. Jesus called these types of seekers “wicked and unbelieving.”

Many of the people hanging around Jesus’ ministry showed no evidence of real spiritual discernment … the type of understanding which leads to obedience. Discernment isn’t really discernment unless it leads to obedience. Most people I know like to think of themselves as discerning individuals. In reality, if we are not obedient to God’s word, then we are not discerning at all.

I believe many people attend church, conferences, and other spiritual meetings searching for hidden truths which might give them spiritual insight and power. Jesus reminds us the secret is not found in rubbing shoulders with spiritual giants, but in simple obedience to the truths you already know. In fact, if we neglect our own personal obedience, then our last state is worse than our first!

The Bible repeats this simple theme many times in many different pictures because we need to hear it. We are called to build our house upon the rock, be good soil, be light in dark places, and repent.

The Lord is speaking to each of us today. The only question is whether or not our heart is ready to receive His revelation in total obedience.

Blessings,

Pastor

Why Jesus Isn’t Cool

cool, darkness, light, satan, walk in the light

People who follow Buddha, they are cool.  People who follow the Dali Lama, they are way cool.  Pantheism is cool these days.  There are plenty of trees to hug.  As dangerous as Islam can be, it is still cool to follow Mohammed.  But openly confess you are a follower of Jesus and you will go from being cool to being a fool.  This is not just a western phenomenon.  More Christians have been martyred in the past century than all the previous centuries combined.

My point is this – It has never been cool to be a Jesus freak and it never will.  According to Jesus there are two main reasons for this.

“Now judgment is upon this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out.”  John 12:31

His time being short, Satan is out to persecute the professing believer.  The demonic world will never allow following Christ to become in vogue or cool.

“For a little while longer the Light is among you. Walk while you have the Light, so that darkness will not overtake you; he who walks in the darkness does not know where he goes. 36 While you have the Light, believe in the Light, so that you may become sons of Light.”  John 12:35-36

The other reason following Jesus will never be cool is “light.”  The light of Christ is revelation, truth, and knowledge.  Men love darkness and would rather walk in total darkness than the true light because they love to do evil.  This is why Jesus doesn’t make sense to many people.  Since they love darkness, real spiritual truth seems absurd.

I like looking at things under a black light.  I think it is cool.  But I do not want to live with my only light source being a black light.  I want a real light to see life accurately.  Satan would have us believe his black lights are all we need.

This is why Jesus said time and time again, “Walk in My light.  Walk in My truth.  Because night is coming when no man can see.”  Which light are you trying to use?  If the world is cool with you and you are cool with it, you have a light problem and are living in darkness.  Take this revelation today and begin to walk in the light.

“Oh Be Careful Little Eyes What You See”

blind, light, revelation, spiritual blindness, the eye is hte lamp of your body

“The eye is the lamp of your body; when your eye is clear, your whole body also is full of light; but when it is bad, your body also is full of darkness. 35 Then watch out that the light in you is not darkness.”      Luke 11:33-35

No one would purposefully want to be blind.  It usually comes with disease or injury.  You don’t have to convince people they are blind.  They know it.  Spiritual blindness is another issue.  Jesus constantly told people they were blind and needed light in their life.

Jesus stated that people do not usually light lamps only to cover them with baskets.  Yet in our spiritual walk we do this activity all the time.  We see truth and shortly thereafter cover-up our revelation.  Suffice it to say, most of the light you have received has been buried or ignored.  God has had to give us the same revelations time and time again.

To combat this issue, Jesus informs us that our eyes must be “clear.” This means being singularly devoted in purpose and intent.  Our eyes reflect what’s in our heart.  In addition, if our eyes are dark it is because we view too much evil.  Evil covers or clouds what revelation and truth we do possess.  The more immorality and wickedness we choose to view, the more pervasive our blindness becomes.  Our eyes have appetites like our stomachs.  Whatever we choose to feed our eyes, they crave all the more.

Do you want illumination?  Do you want your whole body filled with fresh revelation?  It is possible.  First choose to let the light of God’s revelation in, treasure it, and ask the Lord for more.
